Traditional gathering gives maximum elasticity and is easier to smock.

Our gathering follows the principles of traditional gathering of fabric for smocking. What we mean by this is that a needle is passed through each pleat which stands vertically. It like the automated mass produced gathering which is done by using a chain stitch on the top and bottom of the zig-zag knife pleats.

10 cm hem.

In addition to the generous skirt length we have a 10 cm hem. This means that you could, on most average children let out the hem and the skirt will come to the ankle.

This is excellent for the child that grows tall rapidly.

We feel that you should get maximum life out of your dress. The generous skirt length will come to just below the knee on the average child of the size on the label.

Generous ties

Aesthetically a beautiful bow makes any little girl look adorable. We decided to make our ties very generous. However they are not purely aesthetic.

The ties assist the styling by drawing the skirt in at the ‘waist’. As we well know little children do not have a well defined waist. The ties combined with the controlled gathers of the smocking create a beautiful ‘child like’ waistline.

The added feature of the ties is that regardless of whether the wearer is broad or thin the ties together with the smocking will draw the bodice into a flattering profile. This makes it possible for multiple body shapes to wear the same garment – ideal for heirloom garments or where there are younger siblings.

	Fully linned front and back yoke.

Both front and back yoke is fully lined making the garment very comfortable to wear and extremely durable. This is essential for our practical easy care range as well as the heirloom range. Our products are made to be worn and washed.

They are practical products for a practical needlecraft.

This is particularly important if the fabric has a print. The lining takes the colour of the print to the underside of the sleeve which due to its generous gathering and frill will undoubtedly attract attention.

The lining also acts as a casing for the elastic which adds to the quality of the finish of the garment.
