The 'How To Smock' section of the web-site is divided into 3 main areas: Basic Stitches, Combination Stitches and Design Cards.
Each section builds on the previous one but they can be tried in any order.
This will give you step-by-step instructions with diagrams to illustrate each stitch.
If you are new to smocking this is your best starting point. You may however have to pop into the 'tips' section if you are not sure about things like starting stopping and joining threads.

Once you have mastered the basic stitches you can move onto this section. Combination Stitches combine the basic stitches to give a 'new look' to the stitch. For example a heart may be made up of 'Baby Waves' and 'Trellis'.
If you have got this far you are more than likely quite addicted to smocking. Fortunately there are no patches for this. So just enjoy it.

| Go to Combination Stitches! |
These are collections of both basic and combination stitches pulled together to form a smocked panel or piece.
You can get design cards from magazines or books or you can buy dasign cards from suppliers. See links.
However you should try creating designs on your own. It is really quite rewarding and cannot go really wrong. True some designs may look better than others but the point is it is your creation and someone will love it.
