As a child I was fortunate to have a mother who loved poetry.

She taught us a number of poems which have partially remained in my memory banks. Like most children they were just part of our lives and would always be there. It was only after she had passed away that I became aware that I had no record of all these gems. It was then that I started to search for them.

As I find them I will post them to this site so that there is a record for my children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, her students and friends.

Mistaken Kindness

By Unknown

A kind old gentleman once met

A little girl in tears:

The reason was that she had lost

A penny, it appears..

Said he, “we’ll soon make that alright

I’ll settle it right here.”

Then from his pocket he took a coin

Saying, “Here it is my dear.”

She look at him reproachfully,

As if he’d done some crime.

Then murmured, “Oh you wicked men,

You had it all the time.”
